Product Definition

This product is based on the EarthMap Solution’s Vigor or Green Vegetation infolayer. The Vigor map is converted to the amount of Pix (chemical used to inhibit vegetation growth) to apply assuming higher vegetation growth areas will receive higher amount of Pix and vice-versa. The premise to this is that dense vegetation areas will result in lower yield.

Product Use Model

Variable Rate PixTM Map is directly imported into a Variable Rate Applicator equipped with a GPS unit for variable rate Pix application.

Product Value

Pix is a chemical used to inhibit vegetative growth in cotton resulting in increased boll set. It is an expensive product and application rates vary based on the amount of vegetation and rate of crop growth. The AgroWatch Green Vegetation Index quantifies the amount of vegetation in a field and our online software uses these data to automatically generate a zone map for targeting variable rate applications of Pix. A well-timed, variable-rate Pixing program can increase profit by $200/acre by reducing costs and increasing crop yield.
